How to apply
As a program nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), TAMUCC's Athletic Training Education Program is competitive, and only a limited number of students are admitted each year. The application is a three-part process. Students are admitted each fall to the pre-professional phase and formally admitted to the program each spring. To be considered for admission, you must:

  1. Apply as an undergraduate student to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The university accepts Apply Texas, available online at www.applytexas.org. (For more information on university admission, visit the TAMUCC admission page).

  2. Apply to the pre-professional phase of the Athletic Training Education Program. You need to do this before beginning any clinical experience courses. To begin clinical experience courses in the fall, you need to submit your application by August 1. This application requires the following:

  3. After your first semester as a pre-professional, you will need to complete the last step of the competitive admission process to be considered for full admission into the Athletic Training Education Program. Finally, you must:

    • Have completed KINE 1320 and KINE 2191 with a grade of B or better
    • Have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher

The Athletic Training faculty and staff will consider all professional and personal qualifications when selecting applicants. If you are denied admission three times, you will not be eligible to reapply.
